Gateway / Firewall Server ...

Most firewalls are purchased with network security in mind, but the type of security is rarely defined. Arabnix’s network engineers work to understand how a network is used and then design the security to protect it. The design for the firewall can evolve as the company changes with security and services to meet your needs over the long term.

This evolutionary process doesn’t have to start with a small firewall that is solely dedicated to security. Other services and “add-ons” can be designed-in to address various network or company needs. For instance:

» VPN - Secure remote access that encrypts data between the main office and a remote network or computer.
» Bandwidth Monitoring - this add-on gives text & graphic information on how connectivity resources are used.
» Web Caching - Can save up to 40% of the network’s bandwidth by caching frequently visited web sites.
» Web Blocking - Allows the firewall to block traffic to many sites that are cause for concern or liability.
» DMZ Network - A DMZ network is a second network behind the firewall used for services that need to be accessed directly from the Internet, such as mail or web services. The DMZ network is still protected by your firewall (so it’s safer to run systems that do not have built-in firewall capabilities.) Basically, the private network can access the Internet and the services on the DMZ, but the servers on the DMZ and requests from the Internet cannot reach the private network.

Arabnix’s staff will help you select the security design and services to meet your needs. A network engineer will then take care of the setup and installation of the firewall on your network.

Arabnix provides tech support for ipchains, iptables, and related software.
netfilter and iptables are building blocks of a framework inside the Linux 2.4.x and 2.6.x kernel. This framework enables packet filtering, network addresss [and port] translation (NA[P]T) and other packet mangling. It is the re-designed and heavily improved successor of the previous Linux 2.2.x ipchains and Linux 2.0.x ipfwadm systems.

Technical support Arabnix provides for ipchains and iptables:
» Kernel and module-based installations and configurations
» Packet filtering (firewall functions) and forwarding (NAT and Masquerading)
» Security configuration and audits
» Implementation of web-based management software
» Migration from ipfwadmin to iptables
» Migration from ipchains to iptables
» Bridge mode stateless packet filtering
